Summary: Serves as general consultant and liaison to the low-income community by conducting outreach, performing assessments, determining eligibility, and being responsible for product inventory control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Promotes to the public and availability of existing energy programs via personal presentations, mailings, etc.
Recruits and determines eligibility of families under applicable guidelines for available energy conversation projects.
Provides energy information to customers.
Completes an assessment, identifying the needs of the customer as they relate to the energy programs and products available.
Makes appropriate referrals to other energy conservation agencies/programs, if and when needed.
Travels, as required, to prospective and varied work sites, special training sessions, etc.
Accountable for any inventory issued, utilizing appropriate forms and procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent required. Additional training in related energy conservation programs preferred. Experience in related client recruitment and eligibility determination preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Moderate computer skills required for data entry, Word, Excel, and other software programs, as required for the position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Abilty to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees or organizations. Must be personable and be able to effectively communicate with others from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. May need to be bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Southeast Asian dialect.)

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Access to transportation and California driver’s license and minimum auto insurance is required by law. Must maintain a good driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasional use of ladders required. Must not be afraid of heights, up to 25 feet.
